In fact, small business advice and counseling has become a major part of our practice.
Peter Lucas is a New Jersey Supreme Court Board Certified Civil Trial Attorney. The Supreme Court certifies attorneys in four areas: Civil Law, Criminal Law, Matrimonial Law and Worker's Compensation Law. The standards for certification are set by the Board of Attorney Certification. In order to be designated by the New Jersey Supreme Court as a Board Certified Civil Trial Attorney, an attorney must be in good standing with the New Jersey Bar for a minimum of five years; an attorney must have been favorably evaluated and hold a good reputation with other attorneys and judges familiar with the attorney's work; the attorney must pass a rigorous written examination in civil trial law; and the attorney must demonstrate a substantial level of experience in civil trial law satisfying a minimum pre-requisite of trial hours. The Board on Attorney Certification was established by the Supreme Court of New Jersey in 1980 for the purpose of helping consumers find attorneys who have a recognized level of competence in particular fields of law. Relatively few attorneys in the State of New Jersey earn the designation. As of December 2000 only 1,443 out of 55,687 active attorneys in New Jersey held the designation.
